The marketing of two luxury apartments at the historic Beachcliff on the seafront at Penarth (near Cardiff) was launched at a VIP reception last night (Wednesday 14 October). Local dignitaries and business people from across South Wales were among the first to see the stunning interiors of the individually-designed two-bed apartments, which are for sale through agents Savills and Michael Graham Young at £600,000 each – a price tag that reflects their extraordinarily high quality specification, beautiful location in a gorgeous period property with amazing sea views and completely unique character.

There are only two apartments in the Beachcliff development, which also comprises three town houses (due to come to the market in 2016), the award-winning fine dining Restaurant James Sommerin with Rooms and two café/restaurant units. And, with the agents are already reporting strong interest, it is unlikely that they will be on the market for long.

The remarkable £6 million transformation of Beachcliff has seen the long-neglected Edwardian building lovingly restored and painstakingly rebuilt by Cardiff-based property developer Richard Hayward of Richard Hayward Properties (RHP).

Richard and his partner Karen Athay purchased the property in 2007. Since then they – and the RHP team – have worked tirelessly to return the iconic landmark to its former glory while adding contemporary luxury and state-of-the-art technology to create a five unique homes (two apartments and three town houses). The two two-bed apartments are the first to come to market. Two town houses will follow next year – Richard has already earmarked the third for himself.

Richard Hayward said: “The apartments are unique and the specification is far superior to anything of a similar size that I have seen in South Wales. Unlike most developments, we don’t have lots of units to sell, just two very special apartments and I know that someone will soon be calling them home. We’ve all worked so hard over such a long period of time to make it happen, but finally finished makes it all worthwhile.”

Both apartments’ main reception room features panoramic sea view stretching from Penarth’s beautifully restored traditional Victorian pier to the north, across the Severn Estuary and to the south the islands of Flat Holm, Steep Holm and the Somerset coast beyond.

Everything within the spectacular new apartments has been carefully thought through to create the ultimate living experience, from Poggenpohl kitchens fully fitted with top brand equipment and luxury Laufen bathrooms to remote controlled heating and automatic electric window blinds.

The new owners will also benefit from a concierge service and will be lucky enough to have the fine dining Restaurant James Sommerin, which is rated Best in Wales in the 2016 Good Food Guide and was recently awarded three AA Rosettes, on their doorstep.
